Day 1 - Florida!

Lulabell and I had planned a trip south to visit my mother at her "winter place" and see my sister and her family for a few days. What Lulabell didn't know was our plan to spend two glorious days at Disney World! We all kept it a BIG secret from her and it just about killed me to do it too. My sister nearly let the cat out of the bag when she told my daughter on the phone that "we have your Disney packet ready!" Lulabell thankfully didn't quite catch that and so the secret was kept to the end. We had a rather uneventful airplane trip down and soon we exited the airport in West Palm Beach into the glorious hot sun. We waited just a little while for my mom to pick us up and managed to change into our flip flops while we waited. Mom arrived soon enough and whisked us off straight to the beach! Deerfield beach is one of the prettiest beaches with parking right on the beach basically. Lulabell and I joyfully kicked off our flip flops, rolled up our pants and sprinted to the water. Our toes drank in the glorious blue-green surf as it rolled up the beach. I must admit the water was colder than I expected, but it was not cold enough to deter me from standing there, basking in the glory of it all. We hung out for awhile there, and then headed to grammy's place, which was in a trailer park, right on the intercoastal. It is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, with a screened in porch double wide trailer, very comfortably appointed. We hurriedly changed into our "Florida clothes" and grammy served us some soup to tide us over until dinner (steaks on the grill, roasted potatoes and salad, YUM!) My sister and her family came by about an hour later and we quickly fell into the comfortable rhythm of family. My mother began cooking the steaks, which were absolutely the best steaks I have eaten! We sat and talked for awhile and then decided to break the BIG NEWS to Lulabell. We gathered everyone together and let her have it......stunned silence followed as she tried to figure out if we were kidding her...great delight finally hit as the news sunk in. We were leaving first thing in the morning to spend two wonderful days and nights at the Magic Kingdom! I was psyched because it had been 13 years since I had been there. Mom's birthday was Friday and she was able to get in for free! We finally said goodnight to my sis with promises to pick them up by 6 AM! Lulabell and I headed off to bed with visions of Mickey Mouse in our heads and the thrill that awaited us.... More tomorrow on our first day at Disney World!
